How to Choose the Right BOPP Tape Film
When selecting BOPP tape film for your coating or slitting line, you can use the guidelines below:
-
Define your application and box weight
-
25–28 μm: Typically used for light boxes, inner packs and stationery tapes.
-
28–32 μm: Common choice for standard carton sealing tapes in general logistics.
-
35–50 μm: Recommended for heavy, over-filled or export cartons that need extra reinforcement.
-
-
Match the adhesive system
-
Water-based acrylic, hot-melt and rubber-based PSA each have different tack, temperature and aging performance. Make sure the film’s surface treatment and COF work well with your chosen adhesive and coater settings.
-
-
Decide on print and color requirements
-
If you need warning texts or branding, use the corona-treated side for 1–3 color surface printing or reverse printing. Decide whether you need clear, brown or colored tape film based on your brand and end-market.
-
-
Confirm jumbo roll size and core
-
Specify film width (e.g. 1000–2000 mm) and 3″ or 6″ cores to fit your coating and slitting equipment. Consider your standard tape widths (e.g. 48/50/60 mm) when planning the jumbo roll width.
-
-
Consider machine speed and environment
-
For high-speed automatic lines and variable warehouse temperatures, choose a film grade with stable COF, low shrinkage and good aging resistance to minimize breakage, telescoping and noise.

CloudFilm as Your BOPP Tape Film Partner

Why Choose CloudFilm as Your BOPP Tape Film Supplier
Since 2002, CloudFilm has focused on biaxially oriented films and flexible packaging materials. Our BOPP tape film is produced on modern extrusion and orientation lines with strict quality control from resin to finished jumbo rolls. Every roll is inspected for thickness profile, corona level, appearance and winding quality to support stable coating and slitting on your lines.
Customization and Converting Support
We understand that each tape manufacturer has unique coating formulas, line speeds and market requirements. CloudFilm can customize thickness within 25–50 μm, width from 300–2000 mm and 3″/6″ cores to fit your coater and slitter layout. Free samples are available for trial runs, and our technical team can discuss COF, shrinkage and surface treatment requirements with your engineers before bulk production.
Sustainability and Recyclability
BOPP tape film is based on polypropylene (PP, resin code #5), which is recyclable in many markets when collected and sorted correctly. Combined with suitable adhesive systems, BOPP tape can help you build more mono-material PP packaging and move away from PVC-based tapes.
CloudFilm actively shares technical guidance on BOPP recyclability and mono-material packaging in our blog, helping you design tape solutions that balance performance, cost and sustainability.
