BOPP Tape Film for Carton Sealing & Packaging Tapes

BOPP tape film is a high-clarity, biaxially oriented polypropylene film engineered as the base material for pressure-sensitive packaging tapes. It is optimized for adhesive coating, slitting and printing, helping tape manufacturers produce consistent tapes for carton sealing, logistics, office and everyday packaging applications.

  • High clarity and gloss for branding, warning messages and barcodes

  • High tensile strength with controlled elongation for secure carton reinforcement

  • Stable COF and low heat shrinkage for smooth unwinding on automatic packing lines

  • One side optimized for pressure-sensitive adhesive coating, the other corona-treated for 1–3 color logo or warning printing

  • Thickness range 25–50 μm for light, standard and heavy-duty box sealing tapes

  • Supplied as jumbo rolls for efficient coating, slitting and converting into log rolls and finished tapes

BOPP Tape Film Description

CloudFilm BOPP tape film is specially formulated as the substrate for pressure-sensitive adhesive tapes. One side of the film is optimized for adhesive anchorage, while the opposite side is corona-treated to ensure reliable ink adhesion for simple line or logo printing.

This structure allows tape manufacturers to convert jumbo rolls into high-performing carton sealing and stationery tapes with consistent coating quality.

Thanks to biaxial orientation and precise co-extrusion technology, the film delivers high tensile strength, impact resistance and dimensional stability.

Tight gauge control keeps thickness and profile uniform across the web, which is critical for even adhesive coat-weight, low noise during unwinding and stable performance on automatic packing lines.

Our tape film can be paired with water-based acrylic, hot-melt or rubber-based pressure-sensitive adhesive systems according to your application needs.

It is suitable for clear, brown and colored carton sealing tapes, printed warning tapes, stationery tapes and specialty logo tapes. CloudFilm supplies standard and customized jumbo rolls so you can match your slitting pattern, core size and carton specifications.

BOPP Tape Film Application

BOPP tape film is supplied as jumbo rolls which are coated, slit and rewound to produce different packaging tapes. Typical end uses of tapes made from this film include:

  • Carton sealing: Standard and heavy-duty packing tapes for export cartons, e-commerce parcels and general shipping boxes.

  • Bundling and strapping: Securing multiple inner boxes or light packs together during logistics and warehousing.

  • Warning and branding tapes: Printed tapes for “FRAGILE”, hazard notices, brand logos and promotional messages.

  • Stationery and office tape: Transparent office tapes used for bonding, repair and everyday fastening.

  • Retail and supermarket packaging: Tapes for shelf-ready packaging, temporary closures and price or promotion labeling.

  • Logistics and storage: Tapes for labeling goods, zone marking and securing items on racks or pallets.

How to Choose the Right BOPP Tape Film

When selecting BOPP tape film for your coating or slitting line, you can use the guidelines below:

  1. Define your application and box weight

    • 25–28 μm: Typically used for light boxes, inner packs and stationery tapes.

    • 28–32 μm: Common choice for standard carton sealing tapes in general logistics.

    • 35–50 μm: Recommended for heavy, over-filled or export cartons that need extra reinforcement.

  2. Match the adhesive system

    • Water-based acrylic, hot-melt and rubber-based PSA each have different tack, temperature and aging performance. Make sure the film’s surface treatment and COF work well with your chosen adhesive and coater settings.

  3. Decide on print and color requirements

    • If you need warning texts or branding, use the corona-treated side for 1–3 color surface printing or reverse printing. Decide whether you need clear, brown or colored tape film based on your brand and end-market.

  4. Confirm jumbo roll size and core

    • Specify film width (e.g. 1000–2000 mm) and 3″ or 6″ cores to fit your coating and slitting equipment. Consider your standard tape widths (e.g. 48/50/60 mm) when planning the jumbo roll width.

  5. Consider machine speed and environment

    • For high-speed automatic lines and variable warehouse temperatures, choose a film grade with stable COF, low shrinkage and good aging resistance to minimize breakage, telescoping and noise.

CloudFilm as Your BOPP Tape Film Partner

BOPP Tape Film - Eco-Friendly Packaging Choice

Why Choose CloudFilm as Your BOPP Tape Film Supplier

Since 2002, CloudFilm has focused on biaxially oriented films and flexible packaging materials. Our BOPP tape film is produced on modern extrusion and orientation lines with strict quality control from resin to finished jumbo rolls. Every roll is inspected for thickness profile, corona level, appearance and winding quality to support stable coating and slitting on your lines.

Customization and Converting Support

We understand that each tape manufacturer has unique coating formulas, line speeds and market requirements. CloudFilm can customize thickness within 25–50 μm, width from 300–2000 mm and 3″/6″ cores to fit your coater and slitter layout. Free samples are available for trial runs, and our technical team can discuss COF, shrinkage and surface treatment requirements with your engineers before bulk production.

Sustainability and Recyclability

BOPP tape film is based on polypropylene (PP, resin code #5), which is recyclable in many markets when collected and sorted correctly. Combined with suitable adhesive systems, BOPP tape can help you build more mono-material PP packaging and move away from PVC-based tapes.

CloudFilm actively shares technical guidance on BOPP recyclability and mono-material packaging in our blog, helping you design tape solutions that balance performance, cost and sustainability.

FAQ

What is the difference between BOPP tape film and finished BOPP tape?

BOPP tape film is the clear polypropylene base film supplied in jumbo rolls. Tape manufacturers coat pressure-sensitive adhesive on one side, print on the corona-treated side if needed, and then slit and rewind the film into log rolls and finished tapes. Finished BOPP tape is the final product used for carton sealing, bundling or office use.

What thickness of BOPP tape film should I choose?

For light boxes and stationery tapes, 25–28 μm film is typically sufficient. Standard carton sealing tapes often use 28–32 μm film. Heavy-duty or export cartons may require 35–50 μm to provide extra reinforcement and reduce the risk of tape breakage. CloudFilm can recommend a thickness range based on your box weight, tape width and line speed.

Can BOPP tape film be printed with my logo or warning text?

Yes. Our tape film is designed with one side optimized for adhesive coating and the other side corona-treated for 1–3 color printing. You can print brand logos, warning texts such as “FRAGILE”, handling instructions or promotional messages. We recommend sharing your printing method (surface or reverse printing) and ink system so we can confirm the most suitable surface treatment.

Is BOPP tape film recyclable, and is it considered single-use plastic?

BOPP tape film is made from polypropylene (PP, resin code #5), which is recyclable in many regions when collected and sorted properly. In practice, tapes are often used only once on cartons, so from a usage perspective they are “single-use”. However, the PP material itself can be recycled, especially in mono-material PP streams and when adhesive and ink systems are recycling-friendly. CloudFilm provides technical guidance to help you design more recyclable BOPP tape solutions.

What are CloudFilm’s standard jumbo roll specifications and MOQ for BOPP tape film?

Standard BOPP tape film is available in 25–50 μm thickness, widths from 300–2000 mm and 3″ or 6″ cores. Typical roll diameters are 240–400 mm. The minimum order quantity is 1000 kg, and free samples are available for testing. Rolls are shipped on pallets from Qingdao Port with flexible payment options such as T/T, L/C, PayPal or Western Union.
