Metallized CPP Film Description

CloudFilm, the expert supplier of metallized CPP (cast polypropylene) film in China, is your optimal option when finding a high-quality metallized CPP film in China.

The high-performance and durable metalized CPP film is coated with a layer of metal, usually aluminum. This film is made from high-quality polypropylene resin through melt extrusion and cast film extrusion, followed by vacuum metallization treatment to achieve the final product.

The CPP metalized film shows almost identical properties to aluminum foil at a cheaper cost. It is a one-layer corona-treated heat-sealable film with a thickness ranging from 20 to 30 micrometers. Commonly, CPP metalized  film is coated onto the BOPP (biaxially oriented polypropylene) or polyester substrates.

Metallized CPP film has outstanding barrier properties, preventing the permeation of oxygen and water vapor and extending the foods’ shelf life.

Moreover, VMCPP film boasts high reflectivity and gloss, significantly enhancing the appearance of the packaging and making products more appealing on store shelves. It has a broad application in packaging electronic and pharmaceutical products as it protects against moisture, dust, and other environmental weights.

FAQ

What is Metalized CPP Film

Metallized CPP film(VMCPP) is a packaging material with a thin metal layer. Usually, aluminum is applied to CPP (Cast Polypropylene) film. This metallization improves barrier properties against moisture, oxygen, and light, enhances the film’s appearance with a metallic sheen, and can offer thermal insulation and some conductivity. It’s widely used in food packaging and other industries for its durability and aesthetic appeal.

What Are the Differences In Physical Properties Between Metalized CPP Film and Other Metalized Films?

The differences in tensile strength, impact strength, and overall durability between Metalized CPP (Cast Polypropylene) Film and other films like BOPP (Biaxially Oriented Polypropylene) and BOPET (Biaxially Oriented Polyethylene Terephthalate) can be summarized as follows:

  1. Tensile Strength:
  • Metalized CPP Film: CPP films generally have good tensile strength, but the metalization process can slightly alter these properties. The tensile strength of CPP is usually higher in the machine direction than in the transverse direction.
  • BOPP Film: BOPP is known for its high tensile strength, particularly in the machine direction due to the orientation process. This makes BOPP films stronger than many other polypropylene films.
  • BOPET Film: BOPET films are recognized for their excellent tensile strength in machine and transverse directions. This strength is typically higher than that of BOPP and CPP films, making BOPET a popular choice for demanding applications.
  1. Impact Strength:
  • Metalized CPP Film: CPP films have good impact resistance, making them less likely to tear or puncture. Metalization doesn’t significantly affect the impact strength of the CPP film.
  • BOPP Film: BOPP also offers good impact strength, but it is somewhat less flexible than CPP, which may affect its performance under certain conditions.
  • BOPET Film: BOPET films have excellent impact resistance and are less prone to tearing, even under extreme conditions, than BOPP and CPP.
  1. Overall Durability:
  • Metalized CPP Film: CPP films are durable and resistant to moisture and chemicals, making them suitable for various packaging applications. Metalization adds a barrier against oxygen, moisture, and light, further enhancing its durability.
  • BOPP Film: BOPP is highly durable, with excellent clarity and resistance to UV light. However, it may not have the same barrier properties as metalized films.
  • BOPET Film: BOPET stands out for its superb durability, including resistance to moisture, chemicals, and temperature extremes. It is often used in applications where long-term durability is critical.

These differences are influenced by the materials’ inherent properties and manufacturing processes. BOPET typically offers the highest tensile and impact strength, followed by BOPP and CPP. However, an application’s specific requirements, including factors like barrier properties, optical clarity, and cost, will determine the most suitable choice among these films.

What Are the Typical Applications of Metalized CPP Film, and How Do They Differ From Those of Other Metalized Films?

Typical Applications of Metalized CPP Film vs. Other Metalized Films:

Packaging Applications: Metalized CPP is commonly used in flexible packaging, such as snack foods, bakery products, and confectionery. It’s often chosen for its seal strength, clarity, and barrier properties.

Differences in Applications: Compared to Metalized PET or BOPP, Metalized CPP is often preferred for applications requiring better heat seal ability and flexibility. Metalized PET films, on the other hand, are typically used for applications needing higher mechanical strength and barrier. In contrast, Metalized BOPP films are often chosen for their higher stiffness and gloss.

Specialized Uses: Metalized CPP can also be used in decorative materials, labeling, and lamination applications. Its suitability for specialized uses might differ from other metalized films due to its unique flexibility, heat sealability, and barrier properties.
