Metallized BOPP Film is a biaxially oriented polypropylene film coated with a thin metal layer. It is ideal for packaging with barrier properties and a metallic appearance.

  • High Barrier Properties: Effectively blocks oxygen and moisture, preserving product freshness.
  • Excellent Gloss and Reflectivity: Enhances the visual appeal of packaging.
  • Strong Mechanical Strength: Offers excellent wear and tear resistance.
  • Heat Resistance: Suitable for packaging applications under various temperature conditions.
  • Cost-Effective: More economical compared to other metallized materials.

Metallized BOPP Film Description

BOPP metalized film,  also known as metalized BOPP or BOPP metallized film, is a biaxially oriented polypropylene film with a microscopic layer of metal(usually aluminum) deposited on its surface to improve its properties. Depending on the requirement, the other side can be heat sealable.

It exhibits superior metallic brilliance, gloss, good tear strength, flame retardancy, abrasion resistance, printability, and water resistance. As a metalized film, it is a widely used outer layer in laminated films for packaging food, tobacco, electronics, daily chemical products, and medical products.

With outstanding barrier properties, metalized BOPP effectively blocks oxygen and moisture to maintain products’ freshness. Good gloss and reflectivity make packaged products more appealing. Excellent mechanical strength and thermal resistance allow it to adapt to different packaging requirements and environmental conditions.

A BOPP film manufacturer, CloudFilm is committed to offering customers the highest-quality metallised BOPP film solutions. Our products, known throughout the country and the world for their excellent quality and performance, have gained the fame and approval of many clients.

CloudFilm’s film products are food-grade and have passed FDA, RoHS, Reach, SGS, and other certifications. The film’s certification information and material safety data can be provided upon request.

FAQ

Is Metallized BOPP Film Recyclable?

Metallized BOPP film is recyclable and can be processed through specialized recycling equipment to crush, compact, and granulate, producing recycled particles that can be directly reintroduced into the production line.

This process aids in cost-saving, reduces material waste, increases profits, and is also beneficial for environmental protection and carbon footprint reduction.

What is Metalized BOPP Film?

Metalized BOPP film, also known as metallized biaxially oriented polypropylene film, is a versatile material formed by combining two technologies:

  • BOPP film: This stands for Biaxially Oriented Polypropylene. BOPP film is a plastic film known for its strength, clarity, and good barrier properties against moisture and gases. It’s achieved by stretching polypropylene in two directions, enhancing its properties.
  • Metallization: This process involves depositing a thin layer of metal, typically aluminum, onto the BOPP film surface in a vacuum environment.

The metal coating gives metalized BOPP film several unique characteristics:

  • Metallic appearance: It has a shiny, metallic look that can enhance the aesthetics of packaging or products.
  • Improved barrier properties: The metal layer further enhances the film’s ability to block light, moisture, oxygen, and other gases. This makes it ideal for protecting light-sensitive products and extending shelf life.
  • Heat reflectivity: The metal coating reflects heat, benefiting thermal insulation applications.
What's the tips for BOPP Metalized films?
  1. Understand the Applications: BOPP metalized films are widely used in flexible packaging, especially for food products like snacks, candies, and chocolates, as well as for decorative purposes and insulation material. Knowing the specific application can help you choose the right type of film.
  2. Check Compatibility: Ensure that the BOPP metalized film is compatible with your product, especially if used for packaging. Consider barrier properties, seal strength, and resistance to elements like moisture and oxygen.
  3. Proper Storage: Store BOPP metalized films in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to maintain their quality and extend their shelf life. High temperatures and humidity can affect the film’s properties.
  4. Printing and Lamination: If you plan to print or laminate the film, check its suitability for these processes. Some metalized films are treated to enhance ink adhesion and lamination bonding.
  5. Sealing Parameters: Pay attention to the sealing parameters, such as temperature, pressure, and time, when using BOPP metalized films. Improper sealing can lead to package failure or compromise the film’s barrier properties.
  6. Recycling and Disposal: Be aware of the recycling and disposal options for BOPP metalized films. While BOPP is recyclable, the metalized layer can complicate the recycling process. Check with local regulations and recycling facilities for guidance.
  7. Handling Precautions: Handle BOPP metalized films carefully to avoid scratches or damage to the metalized surface. This is crucial for maintaining the film’s aesthetic appeal and functional properties.
  8. Testing for Specific Uses: If the film will be used in challenging conditions, such as high humidity or varying temperatures, conduct tests to ensure it meets the requirements. This is particularly important for food packaging, where freshness and safety are paramount.
  9. Consult with Suppliers: If in doubt, consult with the film supplier or manufacturer for recommendations on the best type of BOPP metalized film for your needs and tips on usage and processing.
