How Does BOPE Film Compare to MDO PE and Other Films?
• BOPE vs. MDO PE – BOPE is stretched in both MD and TD, so its strength and stiffness are more balanced. MDO PE is stretched mainly in the machine direction and is often used as a sealing layer. Many mono-PE structures combine both, for example BOPE/MDO PE or BOPE/PE. For details, see our MDO PE Film page and the article “MDO PE vs BOPE” .
• BOPE vs. PET – PET offers very high temperature resistance and stiffness but is harder to recycle when laminated with PE. BOPE provides a lighter, PE-based alternative for applications that do not require retort temperatures, allowing you to move from PET/PE to BOPE/PE structures.
• BOPE vs. BOPP – BOPP is widely used for snacks and confectionery packaging but normally enters PP recycling streams. If your goal is to keep everything in PE, BOPE is the better outer layer choice for mono-PE laminates.

BOPE Film: Your Ultimate Packaging Solution
In fast-moving consumer markets, packaging must do more than protect products. It needs to carry your brand, meet sustainability targets, and run smoothly on existing lines. CloudFilm’s BOPE film is developed exactly for this balance.
By switching from traditional PET/PE or PA/PE laminates to BOPE-based mono-PE structures, you can often:
- Reduce overall film thickness while keeping or improving bag strength.
- Simplify structures and make recycling easier for downstream partners.
- Maintain clarity and print quality for premium shelf presentation.
From concept to trial run, CloudFilm supports you with film selection, lab testing and on-site trial assistance. Whether you are developing new snack packaging, upgrading pet food pouches, or localizing sustainable packs for a specific market, our team will recommend suitable BOPE grades and laminating partners.
