CPE Film

Cast polyethylene film is a high-strength, highly transparent plastic film made through the cast extrusion process. It is widely used in packaging and industrial applications.

  • Good Mechanical Strength: CPE Film has high tensile and tear resistance.
    Excellent
  • Transparency: Offering clear visual effects, suitable for packaging that requires product display.
  • Good Chemical Stability: Resistant to various chemicals.
  • Efficient Barrier Properties: Effectively blocks the penetration of gases and moisture.

CPE Film Description

CPE films, also known as cast PE film or cast polyethylene film, are made of polyethylene as the primary material, and are formed through a casting process.

This film-making technology uses molten polymer extruded through a hole of a die and cooled on a cooling roller to form a film.

Unlike the blow molding process, the casting process uses higher temperatures, which results in faster production speeds, better film strength, and elongation.

Our cast polyethylene products are widely applied in diverse areas, including food packaging, drug packaging, and construction supplies.

With our wide experience and expertise, we can provide the cast films of different types you require.

CPE films are known for their high strength, high transparency, and excellent sealing features, which make them particularly popular in the food packaging industry.

They keep food safe from moisture and oxygen, yielding a clear visual display.

Furthermore, CPE films are widely used in pharmaceutical packaging, where these non-toxic and odorless properties ensure drug safety.

The BOPE/CPE composite structure has a unique monoolefine structure, which makes it recommended for applications requiring high strength, weather resistance, and barrier properties.

Functional requirements of CPE combined with other plastic films, including nylon, PET, and BOPP, are also possible.

CloudFilm was established in 2002 and is now one of the largest suppliers of cast polyethylene film (CPE) in China.

We have six major warehouses nationwide, allowing us to process big orders and deliver them quickly.

CPE Film Applications

CPE film is widely used as a soft, tough sealing and surface layer in flexible packaging, especially where low‐temperature performance and good optics matter.

  • Food & Frozen Food Packaging

For pillow packs, frozen vegetables, dumplings, dairy and snacks, CPE is often used as the sealant layer in PET/CPE or BOPP/CPE structures. When you need higher barrier or more complex structures, you can combine CPE with other films such as our food packaging film and laminate into bags like pillow pouches.

This helps you balance seal strength, softness in the hand and shelf appeal.

  • Chilled & Cold-Chain Products

Thanks to its cold resistance and flexibility, CPE film performs well in refrigerated and frozen conditions. It is a common choice for chilled meat, seafood, cheese and ready meals that require reliable sealing without becoming brittle at low temperatures.

  • Household & Hygiene Products

CPE film can be used as outer wrapping for tissue, sanitary products, wipes and other hygiene items. The soft touch and good printability provide a comfortable hand feel and clean brand presentation while still protecting against moisture and dust.

  • Industrial & Protective Packaging

For hardware, electronics and components, CPE film works as a protective overwrap or lamination layer, offering abrasion resistance and cushioning. It can be tailored with different slip and anti-block packages for easier converting and packing.

CPE Film: A Comprehensive Guide to Cast Polyethylene Excellence

When Should You Choose CPE Film?

CPE film is the right choice whenever you need a soft, clear and tough PE film that can form strong seals without sacrificing flexibility. Typical situations include:

  • vacuum and frozen food packs that require low-temperature toughness and puncture resistance;
  • garment dust covers and cloth packaging where a soft hand-feel and clear appearance are important;
  • inner sealing layers in mono-PE pouch structures to support recyclability;
  • protective films for parts, electronics and appliances that must resist scratches and moisture.

Typical CPE-Based Structures We Supply

CloudFilm supplies CPE film both as a single-layer film and as part of multi-layer laminates:

  • Single-layer CPE film – used for vacuum bags, garment covers and simple protective bags that benefit from the film’s softness and toughness.
  • BOPE/CPE mono-PE laminates – combine oriented BOPE film as the stiff, printable outer layer with CPE as the sealing layer, enabling 100% PE recyclable packaging.
  • PET/CPE laminates – used where higher temperature resistance and stiffness from PET are needed, but a soft, strong PE sealing layer is still important, such as in some liquid or heavy-duty bags.
  • Nylon/CPE laminates – pair cast nylon film for high puncture resistance and gas barrier with CPE for strong seals in demanding applications like industrial and technical packaging.

Our technical team can review your current PET/PE or PA/PE structure and suggest CPE-based alternatives that move you closer to recyclable mono-material solutions.

FAQ

What is CPE film and how is it different from regular PE film?

CPE (Cast Polyethylene) film is a PE film produced by cast extrusion instead of blown extrusion. It offers very good thickness uniformity, high clarity, a soft hand-feel and strong puncture resistance. Compared with regular blown LDPE or LLDPE films, CPE usually provides better optics, higher hot tack and more stable sealing for vacuum and frozen food packaging.

What thickness and width range can CloudFilm supply for CPE film?

As a general guideline, CloudFilm typically supplies CPE film in thicknesses from about 30 μm up to 100 μm, with widths up to 4,000 mm, depending on the grade and application. Detailed parameters such as roll diameter, core size and friction coefficient can be adjusted to match your printing, laminating and bag-making equipment.

Can CPE film be used in recyclable mono-PE structures?

Yes. CPE is often used as the sealing layer in mono-PE laminates such as BOPE/CPE  or BOPE/CPE/PE. These structures help you move away from PET/PE or PA/PE laminates and improve recyclability, especially when combined with suitable inks and adhesives. For a broader discussion of mono-PE solutions, you can also refer to our articles on MDO PE and BOPE.

Is CPE film suitable for frozen food or low-temperature applications?

CPE film has excellent low-temperature toughness and maintains flexibility at freezing temperatures, which makes it a popular choice for frozen meat, seafood and ready meals. Its good hot tack also supports secure seals even when some condensation is present in the sealing area.

What is the usual MOQ and lead time for CPE film orders?

For most CPE film specifications, the typical minimum order quantity is around 1,000 kg per thickness or grade. Lead time usually ranges from about 15–25 days after order confirmation, depending on the production schedule and whether special structures are involved. Trial rolls and free A4 samples can be provided for testing.

Can CloudFilm supply printed or laminated structures using CPE film?

Yes. We can supply CPE film as a lamination partner to PET, nylon or BOPE, and we cooperate with experienced printers and converters for high-quality flexo or gravure printing. If you prefer ready-made pouches, you can also combine CPE-based structures with our flexible pouches range.
