PE Stretch Film Description

PE stretch film, also known as pallet wrap or stretch wrap film, is a polyethylene film that is stretched around products to create a tight, secure outer layer without heat. CloudFilm produces LLDPE-based stretch films with balanced stretchability, puncture resistance and cling, so your pallet loads remain stable from warehouse to final destination.

You can use our PE stretch film for hand wrapping or automatic wrapping machines. Hand rolls are easy for on-site rework, repacking and small batches, while machine-grade stretch film ensures consistent tension and wrapping efficiency on high-speed lines. Typical thickness ranges and stretch levels can be tailored to your load weight, pallet height and film usage targets.

CloudFilm supplies clear and tinted PE stretch film in custom widths, roll lengths and core sizes. Jumbo rolls are available for converters and rewinders who want to slit or print the film under their own brand. All films are designed to combine high load stability with downgauging potential, helping you reduce material consumption while maintaining protection.

PE stretch film is part of CloudFilm’s broader PE film portfolio, which also includes PE shrink film, stretch hood film and PE protective film for panels, appliances and metal coils. When you need to compare different PE packaging options or understand how stretch film fits into your system, you can also refer to our technical guides on PE film and stretch film applications.

CloudFilm can customize PE stretch film specifications to match your packaging lines and load requirements. Typical options include:

  • Material structure: LLDPE-based PE stretch film with optimized cling, stretch and puncture resistance

  • Thickness range: Commonly from around 12–35 μm for most pallet wrapping applications (other ranges available on request)

  • Film width: From narrow banding film for small bundles to wide rolls for full pallet wrapping

  • Roll length & winding: Standard and long-length rolls, supplied in tight, even winding for smooth unwinding on hand and machine equipment

  • Color & appearance: Clear, tinted or opaque film with glossy surface for product visibility and label/barcode scanning

  • Roll core: Common core diameters such as 2″ and 3″, with customized core length and logo printing available

  • Supply forms: Hand stretch film rolls, machine stretch film rolls and jumbo rolls for converters and rewinding plants

Want to upgrade your pallet wrapping with stable, cost-effective PE stretch film?
Share a few key details with CloudFilm and we will recommend a suitable grade and arrange sample rolls for testing.

To speed up the quotation, it is helpful to know:

  • What you are wrapping (cartons, bags, furniture, building materials, etc.) and typical pallet weight

  • Wrapping method: hand wrapping, semi-automatic or fully automatic stretch wrapper

  • Required film thickness range, width and roll length

  • Expected monthly or yearly usage and preferred delivery term (FOB or CIF)

CloudFilm can then match the right PE stretch film grade for your line and, if needed, compare it with solutions such as PE shrink film or stretch hood film.

PE Stretch Film Application

  • Logistics & Transportation
PE stretch film is widely used to stabilize pallet loads during domestic and international transport. By tightly wrapping cartons, bags and drums, it helps prevent shifting, tipping and damage caused by vibration and braking, while providing a clean outer layer against dust and moisture.

  • Food & Beverage Distribution
In food and beverage supply chains, PE stretch film is used to wrap pallets of bottled water, soft drinks, canned food and carton packs. The clear film keeps product information visible for warehouse scanning and retail receiving, and can be combined with PE shrink film or stretch hood film when additional top-cover protection is required.

  • Warehousing & 3PL Fulfilment
Stretch film is ideal for bundling and organizing inventory in warehouses, distribution centers and 3PL hubs. It supports efficient put-away and picking, makes mixed-SKU pallets more stable and allows for easy removal and re-wrapping during rework or product returns.

  • Manufacturing & Industrial Parts
Manufacturers use PE stretch film to protect machinery parts, components and semi-finished goods during assembly, storage and shipping. It reduces surface abrasion and contamination, and can be combined with PE protective film for high-value panels, glass and coated surfaces.

  • Retail & E-commerce Parcels
For retail chains and e-commerce operations, PE stretch film helps bundle cartons and parcels into stable units, preventing tampering and damage in the last-mile delivery process. When combined with printed labels or corner boards, it enhances the overall appearance and perceived quality of your shipments.

FAQ

What is the difference between PE stretch film and PE shrink film?

PE stretch film is stretched around the load at room temperature to create tension and hold the goods together. No heat is required. PE shrink film is applied loosely and then shrinks tightly around the product when heat is applied in a shrink tunnel.

Stretch film is mainly used for pallet wrapping and bundling, while shrink film is more common for tray packs, multipacks and some pallet unitization.

Can PE stretch film be used on automatic stretch-wrapping machines?

Yes. CloudFilm supplies machine-grade PE stretch film designed for automatic stretch-wrapping equipment.

By matching film thickness, stretch level and roll format to your machine settings, you can achieve stable loads, fewer film breaks and consistent wrapping quality. We can provide sample rolls for trial runs before you switch your entire line.

How do I choose the right thickness and stretch level for my pallets?

The optimal thickness and stretch level depend on the weight, height and shape of your pallet, as well as your damage rate and film usage targets. Lighter, regular pallets can often use thinner film at higher stretch, while heavier or irregular pallets may require thicker, tougher film and a different wrapping pattern.

If you share your current film specs or photos of your pallets, CloudFilm’s team can recommend a suitable PE stretch film grade.

Is CloudFilm’s PE stretch film recyclable and food-contact safe?

CloudFilm PE stretch film is produced from recyclable polyethylene and can normally enter standard PE recycling streams, subject to local regulations and collection systems.

Our standard grades are intended for secondary and tertiary packaging around cartons and trays.

For applications that require direct food contact or specific regional regulations, please share your requirements so that we can confirm suitable grades and provide the necessary compliance documents.

Do you supply hand rolls, machine rolls and jumbo rolls? Can you support private label?

Yes. We can supply hand stretch film rolls with extended cores, machine stretch film rolls for automatic equipment and jumbo rolls for converters and rewinders.

Private-label packaging, customized roll labels and core printing are available upon request, so you can integrate CloudFilm PE stretch film into your own product portfolio.

How should PE stretch film be stored and handled before use?

PE stretch film should be stored in a clean, dry area away from direct sunlight, heat sources and strong solvents. We recommend keeping the rolls in their original packaging until use and allowing them to acclimatize to the workshop temperature before production.

Avoid mechanical damage to the roll edges and use the film within the recommended shelf life to maintain stable stretch performance and cling.
