BOPP Gloss Film Description

CloudFilm’s BOPP gloss film is a clear, high-sheen polypropylene film used as the outer web or printing base in many flexible packaging structures. Thanks to its biaxially oriented structure, the film combines high clarity, surface gloss and dimensional stability with good mechanical strength.

The smooth, corona-treated surface delivers reliable ink and adhesive anchorage for gravure, flexo and digital printing. This makes the film suitable both as a mono-web for simple overwraps and as a lamination layer in more complex structures such as BOPP gloss / CPP, BOPP gloss / PE or BOPP gloss / metallized BOPP.

Typical end uses include snack and candy flow-wrap, tissue and box overwrap, label face stock, magazine and book cover lamination, and tape backing film. When paired with metallized, matte, heat-sealable or high-barrier layers, BOPP gloss film helps you balance appearance, barrier, cost and recyclability in modern packaging designs.

As a China-based manufacturer, CloudFilm supplies BOPP gloss film with consistent quality, tight thickness control and customised slitting. We support converters and brands with free samples, technical data sheets and fast export service from Qingdao port.

BOPP Gloss Film Applications

Snacks, Candy & Bakery Flow-Wrap

Used as the outer printing layer for pillow pouches and flow-wrap packaging of biscuits, chocolate bars, candies and bakery items. High gloss and clarity help graphics pop while BOPP’s moisture barrier keeps products fresh.

Tissue, Box & Carton Overwrap

Ideal for wrapping tissue packs, multi-packs and retail cartons for cosmetics, toiletries and stationery. The smooth, glossy surface improves perceived value and protects against dust and scuffing.

Labels & Stickers

Can be used as transparent label face stock or as a protective over-laminate on printed labels. Glossy BOPP enhances colour saturation and scratch resistance for food, beverage, household and personal-care labels.

Books, Magazines & Printed Covers

Suitable as a lamination film on book covers, magazines, brochures and gift boxes when a bright, reflective finish is desired instead of matte.

Pharmaceutical & Healthcare Packaging

Applied as part of laminates for over-the-counter medicine, health-care products and medical device packaging where clear visibility and clean appearance are important.

Electronics & Accessories Packaging

Used in hanging bags, header bags and blister card over-laminates for mobile accessories, small electronics and hardware, combining visual appeal with protection.

FAQ

What’s a BOPP Gloss Film?

BOPP gloss film is a biaxially oriented polypropylene film with a smooth, high-gloss surface and good transparency. It is widely used as an outer printing layer or laminating film in flexible packaging, labels, overwraps and book covers where a bright, reflective appearance is desired.

Is BOPP gloss film recyclable and suitable for food packaging?

Yes. BOPP is a polyolefin and is generally considered recyclable in polypropylene-friendly recycling streams when used in mono-material or PP-rich structures. CloudFilm can supply BOPP gloss films that meet food-contact requirements when used in appropriate laminates, and we can provide relevant documents and test reports on request.

What thickness of BOPP gloss film should I choose?

Common thicknesses include 12, 15, 18, 20, 25 and 30 µm. Thinner films such as 12–18 µm are often used for snack and candy flow-wrap, tissue overwrap and high-speed printing. Thicker films such as 20–30 µm can improve stiffness for carton overwrap, large labels or book covers. If you share your application and current packaging structure, we can recommend a suitable thickness.

Which printing and lamination methods are compatible with BOPP gloss film?

The corona-treated surface of BOPP gloss film works well with gravure, flexo and digital printing using solvent-based, water-based or UV inks. It can be laminated to other films or paper via solvent-based, solventless or water-based adhesive lamination, or combined with heat-sealable webs such as CPP or PE.

When should I choose BOPP gloss film instead of matte BOPP or gloss PET?

Choose BOPP gloss film when you want maximum gloss and clarity at a competitive cost for food packaging, labels and book or magazine covers. Matte BOPP is better when you prefer a low-gloss, anti-glare look, while gloss PET is recommended for applications needing higher stiffness, temperature resistance or very long shelf life. CloudFilm can help you compare options for your specific project.
