PET CPP

CloudFilm PET/CPP laminated film combines a strong polyester (PET) outer layer with a heat-sealable CPP inner layer to deliver clear printing, high barrier and secure seals for modern flexible packaging. It is widely used for dry foods, sauces, retort packs, medical devices and technical products.

As part of our broader PET Film and CPP Film portfolio, PET/CPP laminates help you build reliable, high-barrier structures from a single supplier.

  • ✔️ High Oxygen & Moisture Barrier – Helps keep flavor, aroma and product quality stable throughout the intended shelf life.
  • ✔️ Strong Mechanical Protection – PET layer provides stiffness and puncture resistance for heavy, sharp or high-density products.
  • ✔️ Wide Heat-Seal Window – CPP layer runs smoothly on common VFFS/HFFS, flow-wrap and pouch-making lines.
  • ✔️ Retort & Non-Retort Options – Available structures for room-temperature packs, hot-fill or 121°C retort packaging depending on your requirements.

PET CPP Description

What Is PET/CPP Laminated Film?

PET CPP film is a high-performance laminated film made by bonding a polyester (PET) outer layer with a cast polypropylene (CPP) inner layer. The PET side offers stiffness, clarity and printability, while the CPP side provides a soft, heat-sealable layer with good moisture resistance. Together they form a robust structure for demanding flexible packaging.

Typical PET/CPP laminates are used as:

  • The main web for pillow packs, flow-wrap and flat pouches
  • The outer/inner structure in stand-up pouches and zipper bags
  • Part of retortable structures such as PET/CPP or PET/AL/RCPP for long-shelf-life foods and medical products

How The PET And CPP Layers Work Together

  • PET outer layer – Provides dimensional stability, high tensile strength and a smooth surface for high-quality printing. PET also resists higher temperatures, which is important for hot-fill or retort processes.
  • CPP inner layer – Delivers a wide sealing window, hot-tack strength and good moisture barrier. It is gentle on product corners and compatible with high-speed sealing on VFFS/HFFS and pouch-making lines.

By adjusting PET thickness, CPP thickness and corona-treated sides, CloudFilm can tune stiffness, barrier and seal strength to fit your exact pack format and filling line.

Typical PET/CPP Options From CloudFilm

Depending on your product and process, we can recommend PET/CPP designs such as:

  • Standard PET/CPP for dry foods and daily chemicals – For example, clear PET outside and standard CPP inside for snacks, cereals or detergent refills.
  • PET/CPP for chilled & frozen applications – Optimized CPP grades with good low-temperature impact resistance, suitable for frozen meat or seafood outer packs.
  • PET/CPP in retort and high-barrier laminates – Used together with aluminum foil or high-barrier films (e.g. PET/AL/RCPP, PET/NY/RCPP) for 121°C retort pouches and medical sterilization packs.

If you only need mono-layer CPP film, please refer to our Clear CPP Film page. For more PET base films, see our PET Film Roll and Gloss PET Film products.

Why Choose CloudFilm For PET CPP Laminates

  • Application-driven engineering – Based on your product, filling temperature, sterilization method and target shelf life, we recommend suitable PET/CPP or PET/CPP-based structures instead of a one-size-fits-all film.
  • Complete film & pouch portfolio – You can source PET film, CPP film, high-barrier films and finished pouches (such as Retort Pouches and Liquid Pouches) from one partner.
  • Stable quality and technical support – Modern production lines, controlled thickness tolerances and service-minded engineers help you reduce trial-and-error and speed up commercialization.
  • Global export experience – Since 2002, CloudFilm has supplied flexible packaging films to converters and brands in many countries, supporting both new projects and long-term mass production.

PET CPP Applications

PET/CPP laminated film is used across a wide range of flexible packaging formats. Below are some of the most common application scenarios CloudFilm supports:

1. Food & Retort Packaging
PET/CPP is widely used for dry foods such as snacks, biscuits, cereals and nuts, where it helps keep products crisp and flavorful. For long-shelf-life or ready-meal products, PET/CPP can be combined with aluminum foil or nylon in structures like PET/AL/RCPP or PET/NY/RCPP and converted into Retort Pouches.

2. Liquids, Sauces & Pastes
The strong, leak-resistant seals of PET/CPP laminates make them a reliable choice for sauces, dressings, condiments and other liquid or pasty foods. These structures are often used together with Liquid Pouches or Spout Pouches to improve consumer convenience and branding.

3. Pharmaceutical & Medical Packaging
PET/CPP films can be used as part of laminates for pharmaceutical overwraps, medical device pouches and sterilization packs that require a controlled barrier against moisture and contamination. CloudFilm also offers dedicated Pharmaceutical Pouches that can be engineered with PET/CPP and high-barrier layers according to regulatory requirements.

4. Industrial & Technical Products
For hardware, electronic components, spare parts and other technical goods, PET/CPP provides a tough, scuff-resistant outer surface with a sealable inner layer. It protects products from dust, abrasion and humidity during storage and transport and can be converted into flat or gusseted bags as part of our Flexible Pouches range.

FAQ

Is CPP the same as PP?

CPP is a specific type of polypropylene (PP). It is produced by a cast process, which makes the film softer and more heat-sealable than many other PP films. CPP is therefore widely used as the inner sealing layer in laminates such as PET/CPP and BOPP/CPP.

Can PET CPP film be used for powdery products?

Yes. PET/CPP laminates provide tight, leak-resistant seals that effectively contain fine powders such as protein powder, instant drink mixes and spices. The PET layer helps maintain bag shape, while the CPP layer ensures secure seals even on high-speed filling lines.

What thicknesses and structures are available for PET CPP film?

CloudFilm can supply PET/CPP laminates in a wide range of thicknesses depending on your application, typically with a thin PET outer layer and a thicker CPP sealing layer. By adjusting each layer, we can tune stiffness, barrier and seal strength for pillow packs, stand-up pouches or other bag types.

Is PET CPP film suitable for retort or hot-fill applications?

PET/CPP can be engineered for hot-fill and, in some cases, retort conditions when used together with retortable CPP grades or additional barrier layers such as aluminum foil or nylon. For 121°C sterilization, we often recommend structures like PET/AL/RCPP or PET/NY/RCPP together with our dedicated Retort CPP Film and Retort Pouches

Can you supply PET CPP as finished pouches, or only as film rolls?

CloudFilm can supply PET/CPP as laminated film rolls for your own converting, and we also work with flexible pouch lines to provide finished bags such as stand-up pouches, zipper pouches and retort pouches. If you share your desired bag type, we can suggest appropriate structures or match them with our Flexible Pouches portfolio.

Is PET CPP film safe for direct food contact?

Yes. Our PET and CPP films are produced from food-contact grade raw materials and can be used for direct or indirect food contact when combined with suitable inks and adhesives. For specific local regulations (EU, FDA, etc.), we can provide available compliance information and test reports upon request.

What is the typical MOQ and lead time for PET CPP film?

MOQ and lead time depend on the specific structure and customization level. As a reference, standard film runs usually start from several hundred kilograms per structure, and typical lead time is about 15–25 days after order confirmation. For urgent trials or small pilot orders, please contact us so we can propose a flexible arrangement.

Where can I learn more about PET vs CPP film and CPP applications?

You can refer to our article PET vs CPP Film: Key Differences and Uses and CPP Film: The Ultimate Guide to better understand material selection, barrier performance and common applications. Our team can then translate this knowledge into a concrete PET/CPP structure for your project.
